ASI Butyl Rubber Sealant is designed to seal right angle joints formed by metal building materials.  It may also be used as a general purpose sealant under the right circumstances.

JOINT DESIGN

  • Joint depth to be d” for joints ¼” to ½”.
  • Maximum joint depth not to exceed e”.
  • Maximum joint size, 1″ width by e” depth in a single application.

PACKAGING

  • 10.3oz. cartridge, 5 gal. pails, & 55 gal. drum.

PAINTING

  • ASI Butyl is Paintable.

INSTALLATIONS

  • All surfaces must be dry, clean, free of frost, oil, dirt, and loose material.
  • When the joint width exceeds ½ ” an open cell backer rod must be installed.  In shallow joints, a bond breaker tape must be installed to prevent three-point adhesion.
  • Minimum application depth is ¼”.
  • Do not tool, it is self tooling.
  • Warm slightly in extreme cold weather.
  • Clean excess sealant by scraping or with a solvent such as paint thinner or toluol.
  • Using the proper color match is the applicators responsibility.
